Football

Football is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each, typically on a rectangular field with a goal at each end. The objective of the game is to score by getting the ball into the opposing team’s goal, primarily by kicking it. Players can use any part of their body except their arms and hands (goalkeepers are an exception) to play the ball. The game is governed by a set of rules known as the Laws of the Game, which outline how the game is played, including the dimensions of the field, the duration of the match, and the roles of the officials.

Football is known for its global popularity and is often referred to as “soccer” in some countries, particularly in the United States and Canada, to distinguish it from other forms of football, such as American football or rugby. The sport’s governing body is FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association), which organizes major international competitions such as the FIFA World Cup. Football has various styles and formats, including association football (the most widely played version), futsal, and beach soccer, among others. The sport emphasizes teamwork, skill, and strategy, making it one of the most beloved and widely played games in the world.
