Basketball

Basketball is a competitive team sport in which two teams, typically consisting of five players each, aim to score points by throwing a ball through the opposing team’s hoop, which is mounted 10 feet high on a backboard. The game is played on a rectangular court with a hoop at each end, and it combines elements of agility, speed, and strategy. The primary objective of basketball is to outscore the opposing team by shooting the ball into the basket while preventing the other team from doing so. Points can be scored in various ways, including field goals (2 or 3 points depending on the distance from the hoop) and free throws (1 point). Basketball emphasizes dribbling, passing, and shooting skills, and it is governed by specific rules and regulations regarding gameplay, fouls, and violations. The sport is widely popular globally and is a key component of various levels of competitive play, from amateur leagues to professional leagues, such as the NBA (National Basketball Association).
